What does the Bible say about abortion?
If you are a follower of Christ, God’s Word should determine your stance on everything.
What does God’s Word say?

How does God define people?
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…”
Genesis 1:27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 9:6
“Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.”
People are image-bearers of God.
2. When does life begin?
Jeremiah 1:5 | God forms us in our mother’s womb.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…
Psalm 139:13 | Speaks of God's active role in our creation & formation.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Psalm 22:10
From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.
Galatians 1:15
But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace…
Life begins at conception.
Biblical Accounts
Exodus 21:22-23
22 “Now suppose two men are fighting, and in the process they accidentally strike a pregnant woman so she gives birth prematurely. If no further injury results, the man who struck the woman must pay the amount of compensation the woman’s husband demands and the judges approve. 23 But if there is further injury, the punishment must match the injury: a life for a life,
God considers a baby in the womb of the same value as a full grown adult.
Luke 1:40-44
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
At the 4-5 day mark of Mary’s pregnancy, John the Baptist also in the womb, along with Elizabeth celebrate and recognize that the Savior has come.
In Conclusion
Scripture, God’s Word, defines babies in the mother’s womb as image-bearers at the moment of conception. Therefore the removal of human life from a mother’s womb, known as abortion, is murder.

What does the Bible say about LGBTQ+?
If you are a follower of Christ, God’s Word should determine your stance on everything.
What does God’s Word say?
Genesis 19:4-5
Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
Genesis 19:24-25
24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.
Jude 7
7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah to show his wrath against their unrepentant sin.
Leviticus 18:22
Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
Leviticus 18 is giving the Hebrew people a moral code to live by that the earlier inhabitants of their new land (the Canaanites) did not abide by which brought about their destruction.
Leviticus 20:12
13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination;
Homosexuality is forbidden in God’s standard of morality for His people, the Israelites.
Romans 1:24-27
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
These men and women refused to make God the center of their life so God gave them up to live in their wickedness, of which we see includes homosexuality.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Any unrepentant sin that you are unwilling to turn from is characteristic of those who will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Timothy 1:8-10
8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.
The practice of homosexuality is contrary to godly behavior.
Genesis 1:22-24
22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Here, God institutes and defines marriage as one man and one woman.
Ephesians 5:22-23
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church
Ephesians 5:25
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Ephesians 5:31-32
31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.
Marriage is a representation of the union between Christ and the Church. The man represents Christ while the female represents the Church. Homosexuality mars the image and purpose of this union.
Christ’s response to sin:
1 John 1:8-9
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Feminism
WEEK 3
What does the Bible say about Feminism?
If you are a follower of Christ, God’s Word should determine your stance on everything.
What does God’s Word say?
Genesis 1:27-28
So God created mankind in his own image
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
-
Women are dignified.
Men and women are created equal in their being and personhood.
Genesis 2:18-24
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” 19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
-
Women are distinct.
A woman's absence was the first thing declared not good in the creation.
2 Timothy 1:5
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
-
Women have great purpose.
A Few Women that God used in Scripture:
-
Esther – Saved the Israelites from destruction. (Esther)
-
Anna the Widow – Met baby Jesus at the temple and began telling others of His arrival. (Luke 2:21-36)
-
Shiphrah & Puah – Midwives in Egypt that refused to murder Hebrew baby boys by order of the king. (Exodus 1)
-
Rahab the prostitute – Hid the Israelite spies in her home. (Joshua 2)
-
Lydia – One of the first Christians who also was a host to Paul and his companions as they ministered to the first church. (Acts 16)
-
Priscilla (And Aquila) – Leaders in the early church. (Romans 16:3-4)
-
Mary – Mother of Jesus (Luke 1)
-
Elizabeth – First person to recognize the arrival of Jesus (Luke 1)
-
Women were the first to proclaim the resurrection of Christ (Matthew 28)
-
The overlooking of women in the church was a purpose for instating deacons. (Acts 6:1-6)
Views on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood
Complementarianism is the theological view that although men and women are created equal in their being and personhood, they are created to complement each other via different roles and responsibilities as manifested in marriage, family life, religious leadership, and elsewhere. It is rooted in more literal interpretations of the Creation account and the roles of men and women presented in Scripture.
Egalitarianism within Christianity, is a movement based on the theological view that not only are all people equal before God in their personhood, but there are no gender-based limitations of what functions or roles each can fulfill in the home, the church, and the society.
Feminism is fulfilling women’s design for themselves.
Biblical Womanhood is fulfilling God’s design for women.

We are all equally loved by God.
Galatians 3:26-28
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
No human being is superior or inferior based on their ethnicity.
-
Salvation is offered to All PEOPLE.
1 Timothy 2:1-6
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
Salvation is received by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone. There is no difference in salvation based on your ethnicity, financial status, gender, etc.
-
We are all celebrated in heaven.
Revelation 7:9
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.
The more united we are with people of all ethnicities, the more we will experience heaven on earth.
-
God calls us to love others as He loves.
John 13:35
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
Philippians 2:3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.
In Conclusion
racism, prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, is sinful and contrary to the word of God.
